Shella began her career as a nurse clinician in 2006, bringing her expertise and dedication to the Internal Medicine Unit of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). After completing her Masters in Nursing Education in 2010, she expanded her role to become a professional development educator, training and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Over the years, Shella has gained varied experience in a variety of practice settings, including Family medicine clinics, CLSCs, STI and hormone therapy clinics.
